Nylon (polyamide) tros
Polyamide is the strongest of the conventional mooring fibres and stretches the most, which lets it absorb shock loads in towing and exposed berths. That same elasticity produces dangerous snapback if a line parts, so nylon lines must be inspected, retired and handled with strict snapback discipline.
